The Story

The AmScope B120 Binocular Compound Microscope is a versatile, professional-grade instrument designed for teaching demonstrations, clinical examinations, and laboratory applications. Perfect for teachers, students, and hobbyists — including those in medical or biology programs — this model offers superior functionality compared to standard microscopes, with features like enhanced LED illumination, a centerable Abbe condenser, and a precision Siedentopf head for comfortable viewing. Use the B120 to observe live and prepared cells, bacteria, plant matter, soil, and water samples with exceptional clarity.

Viewing Head

Customize your viewing experience with the Siedentopf binocular head. The interpupillary distance (53–77mm) is easily adjustable, while the left ocular tube includes a diopter to correct for eye differences. Eyepieces sit at a comfortable 30° angle to reduce neck strain, and can be swapped with other eyepiece pairs to achieve different magnifications.



Optics

The quadruple objective turret provides instant access to four magnification levels, ranging from 40X to 1000X. Pairing the objectives with the included 25X eyepieces expands the range up to 2500X across six unique settings, ideal for detailed examination of hair follicles, microorganisms, and cell structures. All objectives are achromatically corrected to deliver crisp resolution and true-to-life color.



The Stage

The double-layer mechanical stage allows smooth, precise slide movement with its ergonomic X-Y controls positioned near the coaxial focus knobs. This low-position design ensures a natural hand position, allowing users of any skill level to quickly and accurately examine specimens.

Transmitted Illumination

The LED sub-stage illumination is cool, energy-efficient, and daylight-balanced for natural color reproduction. A specialized fly-eye lens ensures even light distribution at all brightness levels, enhancing image contrast. The centerable Abbe condenser can be precisely aligned for each magnification level, guaranteeing optimal lighting conditions.

Digital Imaging

Capture and share your observations with the included 1MP digital eyepiece camera. Simply insert it in place of an eyepiece to view live images on your computer, record still photos or videos, and reduce eye strain during long sessions. Our professional Windows software offers advanced features like time-lapse capture, image stitching, extended depth-of-field, HDR, and measurement tools. Mac and Linux users have access to a streamlined version for capturing photos and videos.
