The Story

Cargille's LDF immersion oil is formulated to have very low self-fluorescence -- including in the UV-A band -- making it ideal for fluorescence microscopy. The oil is low-viscosity, and maintains high transmittance throughout the visible spectrum and UV-A band.

Immersion oil is necessary for high magnification microscopy when using oil-immersion objective lenses. Do not use with dry or water-immersion lenses. Immersion oil should also be used on oil-compatible light-condensers when working at high magnifications, as the oil ensures a consistent refractive index throughout the optical path, providing the highest resolution possible.
